Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Blue Bombers DE Gavin Walls may have been an unknown quantity when the season began, but it's safe to say that is no longer the case.
A leading Rookie of the Year candidate, Walls has been named the Rogers CFL Lineman of the Week for Week 17 of the 2005 CFL season. It's the fourth time this season Walls has earned the award.
Walls had one quarterback sack and four defensive tackles, including two for losses, in the Bombers' heartbreaking 35-32 loss to the Toronto Argonauts this past Sunday at Canad Inns Stadium.
His sack of Argos pivot Damon Allen gave Walls 12 sacks on the season, tops in the CFL. He also has 39 defensive tackles, five tackles for losses, four pass knockdowns and two touchdowns (one interception return, one fumble return) this season.
