Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (1-3) dropped their third-straight on Tuesday night in a 3-1 loss to the Wichita Wind Surge (3-1) to open a six-game series at Riverfront Stadium in Wichita, Kansas.
Wichita got on the board in the first inning against Northwest Arkansas starter Alec Marsh with Twins #1 prospect Brooks Lee starting the ballgame off with a double. He went to third when Yoyner Fajardo grounded out to second and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of Jake Rucker to make it a 1-0 game.
The Wind Surge's starter, Carlos Luna, rolled, retiring the first 13 Naturals he faced. The 14th hitter of the game was Luka Tresh, who promptly deposited a pitch 408 feet over the left-center field wall to make it a 1-1 game.
The two teams traded zeros until the eighth when the Wind Surge scored two runs without logging a hit. With one out, Lee walked and went to third when Fajardo hit a ground ball to second. The ball was missed by Naturals second baseman Peyton Wilson, who then made an errant throw to first that allowed Lee to take third. Two walks and a hit batsmen later, the Wind Surge had a 3-1 lead.
Northwest Arkansas got a baserunner in the ninth but ended up falling 3-1 for the team's third-straight loss.
Marsh held the Wind Surge to one hit with two walks, yielding a run over his 5.0 innings of work with five strikeouts in a no-decision.
The two teams will play the second game of a six-game series on Wednesday beginning with a 7:05 PM CT first pitch. Fans can catch all the action beginning with the Indigo Sky Casino Clubhouse Show at 6:45 PM CT with the Voice of the Naturals, Shawn Murnin.
