Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA - Brockton Rox 3B Phillip Cuadrado hit his second home run of the season over the right field wall with two outs in the bottom of the tenth to send the Campanelli Stadium crowd into a frenzy and give the Rox a 6-4 victory over the Atlantic City Surf on Saturday night.

Many of the 4,010 fans who came through the gates on Saturday night were still on hand as Cuadrado's home run capped a comeback victory for the Rox. Atlantic City jumped out on the scoreboard first with a two-run home run by DH Clyde Williams off of Rox starter RHP Mike McTamney. The Surf pushed the lead to 3-0 in the top of the sixth on 1B Eddie Kim's solo home run. The two home runs were the only runs allowed by McTamney who delivered his strongest start of the season. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowed three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three.

After being held in check by Surf RHP J.C. Huguet over the first five innings, Brockton finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double by 1B Francisco Lebron, and an RBI single by 2B Melvin Falu, which cut the lead to 3-2.

As the game moved to the ninth, Atlantic City added an insurance run in the top of the inning and left the game in the hands of RHP Aaron Easton who had entered with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the eighth and did not allow a run to score. Brockton was able to push two runs across against Easton in the ninth and force extra innings with an RBI single by SS Dominic Ramos, and a sacrifice fly by LF Jud Thigpen.

Atlantic City went scoreless in the top of the tenth, and Brockton came to bat in the bottom half of the inning. Falu was hit by a pitch with one out, and after RF Tony Gonzalez fouled out to deep left field, Falu moved to third base on an errant pickoff attempt by Easton. All Brockton needed was a single from 3B Phillip Cuadrado who had been a late scratch from the original day's lineup. Cuadrado instead delivered his second Rox home run, and second in two nights, a blast over the right field wall that gave the Rox the 6-4 win. LHP Jacob Ramos picked up his second win of the season as he pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief.

The Rox and Surf conclude the three-game series with a Father's Day Family Fun Day on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM with Brockton RHP John Kelly (2-1, 1.35 ERA) scheduled to face Atlantic City LHP Daniel Cox (2-1, 3.27 ERA).
