
Wahnapitae First Nation Issues Letter of Support for the KED

SUDBURY, ONTARIO - The Kingsway Entertainment District has received a letter of support from Wahnapitae First Nation.
Wahnapitae First Nation believes that the KED will become a world class destination and provide opportunities for their community as well.
"We believe the development of the "Kingsway Entertainment District" will have a great impact in establishing a World Class Entertainment Facility here in Sudbury. Wahnapitae First Nation acknowledges that the establishment of the "Kingsway Entertainment District" will greatly benefit the City of Sudbury as well as the outlining Communities including the community of Wahnapitae First Nation economically and socially." -Chief Larry Roque
Having the support of WFN is an important development for this project. The KED wants to learn from and respect the traditions, knowledge and history of our first peoples.

The next step is to prep the KED site for development. Grading and blasting are set to begin by November 29, 2021.

WFN is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Wanapitei. The First Nation is a signatory to the Rob- inson-Huron Treaty of 1850 as the Tahgaiwenene's Band. The reserve had a resident population of 102 in the Canada 2011 Census; the First Nation also has approximately 200 further registered members who currently live off-reserve.
