Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Every Monday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Suns and VyStar Credit Union are making a difference in Northeast Florida. Through the inaugural VyStar Credit Union Charity Begins At Home program, local nonprofit organizations use Suns games as fundraising opportunities.

Each Monday the Suns play at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in 2016, a different 501(c)(3) nonprofit raises funds by purchasing and selling tickets for its designated game, and raises funds at the game through the Launch-A-Ball promotion.

The first half of the season included VyStar Credit Union Charity Begins At Home nights featuring Pit Sisters, Jacksonville Public Library, Quitdoc Foundation and Civic Communication, Jacksonville Miracle League, MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation and Haven Hospice. Five more Monday home games through Sept. 5 will feature various local nonprofits.

"VyStar Credit Union is proud to partner with the Jacksonville Suns and non-profits in support of Charity Begins At Home," said Terry West, President/CEO, VyStar Credit Union. "Charity Begins At Home is a fun way for organizations and their employees to support and raise awareness for their local charity. Enjoy a night at the ballpark for a good cause."

Each VyStar Credit Union Charity Begins At Home partner is able to purchase tickets at a significant discount from the Suns. The organization may then give away or sell the tickets at face value to raise funds. For its designated night, the organization has a chance to raise additional funds through the Launch-A-Ball promotion, a concourse table to promote its cause, recognition on the stadium video board, public address, radio broadcast and team website, as well as a ceremonial first pitch.

"The Jacksonville Suns thank VyStar Credit Union for supporting Charity Begins at Home to give nonprofit organizations a unique setting to raise funds and awareness," said Suns Director of Community Relations Andrea Williams. "This partnership gives guests at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville a chance to make a difference in the outstanding charitable work in the greater Jacksonville region."

TESTIMONIAL: "Pit Sisters was honored to be a VyStar Credit Union Charity Begins At Home participant. We brought one of our adoptable dogs, and she got her forever home as a result of the experience. We also gained more followers and supporters. Working with the Jacksonville Suns was a great experience, and we hope to continue the partnership in the years ahead." - Jen Deane, President/Founder, Pit Sisters
