Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

On June 24, the Grand Junction Rockies beat the Orem Owlz by a run in 13 innings. Since that game, they have played 11 games decided by a run, and have lost them all, including Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Great Falls Voyagers.

The loss drops the Rockies to 5-14 in the second half, five by a run, and 26-32 overall.

Great Falls took advantage of a defensive miscue in the second inning to take the lead. With a runner at first and one out, Louis Silverio hit a bouncer back to Rockies pitcher Parker French. He went to second for the possible double play, but his throw to second took Brendan Rodgers off the bad. The next batter, Ryan Jones, singled into centerfield, brining home the game's first run, and it stayed that way until the sixth.

With Voyager's starter Lucas Shearrow out of the game, Mylz Jones started the inning with a double, and scored when Collin Ferguson singled up the middle, but the Voyagers got the run back in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. The inning started with Joxelier getting hit by a 2-strike pitch. He scored on Louis Silverio's sacrifice fly.

Rodgers and Piron finished the night with two hits apiece, but the Rockies were held to seven after a two run on four hit night Tuesday.

French surrendered just the one run in five innings. He struck out four, giving him 33 for the season to go along with just two walks. Juan Pena allowed the Voyagers sixth inning run. Scott Firth and Sam Thoele tossed scoreless seventh and eighth innings.
