The Lynx continue their longest road trip of the season Wednesday night in Phoenix taking on the Mercury at US Airways Center. Minnesota is 1-0 vs. the defending WNBA champions this season, defeating the Mercury 94-83 back on May 31, 2008 at Target Center. Minnesota's victory featured two double-doubles by Lynx rookies Charde Houston (18 points and 13 rebounds) and Candice Wiggins (17 points and 12 assists). Phoenix sits at 12-16 and in last place in the West, 3.5 games behind Sacramento for the last playoff spot. Phoenix is in the midst of a six-game home stretch before closing out its regular season with three road games, including a return visit to the Target Center on Friday, Sept. 12. The Mercury is lead by Olympians Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter. Taurasi averages a team-high 23.5 ppg, followed closely by Pondexter's 21.6 ppg. The dynamic duo ranks 1-2 in the scoring race. Former Lynx player Tangela Smith paces the Mercury in rebounding, averaging 7.0 rpg. Minnesota is 15-18 all time vs. Phoenix, including 5-12 on the road. Minnesota's last win in Phoenix came last season when Seimone Augustus scored 22 points to lead the Lynx to a 90-85 win back on June 5, 2007. The Lynx Tuesday's game can be heard on the radio home of the Lynx, BOB FM 106 with Lynx announcer Alan Horton on the call. Minnesota will continue its road trip Saturday in Seattle before closing out the west-coast swing Sunday at Sacramento.

Candace Parker registered 24 points and 16 rebounds, and Lisa Leslie chipped in 20 points, eight rebounds and eight blocks as Los Angeles broke things open in the second half to beat the Lynx, 82-58, on Monday night at Staples Center. Charde Houston's eight points helped stake Minnesota to a 22-16 lead after one quarter, one they held until the Sparks closed with six unanswered points to pull even 37-37 at halftime. Seimone Augustus capped a 6-0 start to the third quarter for the Lynx before Kiesha Brown's 3-pointer triggered a 20-1 barrage that put Los Angeles in control. Minnesota went eight minutes without a field goal before Nicky Anosike's jumper in the final seconds, but Temeka Johnson beat the buzzer to give the Sparks a 62-48 lead entering the fourth period. Sidney Spencer keyed a 9-0 burst that sealed the verdict for Los Angeles, while the Lynx endured another drought of nearly eight minutes prior to Vanessa Hayden-Johnson's layup with 1:10 to play. DeLisha Milton-Jones finished with 10 rebounds for Los Angeles, which won its fourth straight game. Augustus led Minnesota with 13 points, while Anosike collected 11 points and seven rebounds.
