CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky (11-17) have returned from the Olympic hiatus on a hot streak with three consecutive wins, leaving them only two games behind the Indiana Fever for the fourth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. This week, the Sky hope to continue the surge against the Seattle Storm (18-10) Thursday, September 4 at 7 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion, the Connecticut Sun (19-10) on Friday, September 5 at 6 p.m. in Connecticut and the New York Liberty (15-12) on Sunday, September 7 at 12 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.
In their first game back from the Olympic break, the Sky defeated the New York Liberty 69- 60 on August 28, with 19 points from Jia Perkins and 10 points and 10 rebounds from Sylvia Fowles. The Sky's defense helped secure the win, outscoring New York 20-8 in the fourth quarter.
The following night, the Sky faced off against the Washington Mystics (10-18) and earned a 79-75 victory. The red hot Perkins continued to lead the team, this time scoring 28 points. Fowles also had a big game with career highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds.
The Sky returned home on Sunday, August 31 to top conference rival Detroit Shock (17- 12) 82-81 in an exciting overtime game. Candice Dupree led the team in scoring with 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, followed by Perkins 15 points and Fowles third consecutive double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Fowles and Detroit's Katie Smith were honored for their Olympic achievements during a pre-game ceremony.
SYLVIA ON OPRAH!
Sylvia Fowles will be one of the Olympic gold medalists to appear in the season premiere of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which tapes Wednesday, September 3 in Millennium Park. The show is slated to be a welcome home celebration for the athletes and a chance to show off Chicago in its bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Along with Sylvia, other athletes slated to appear include Michael Phelps, Nastia Liukin, Dwyane Wade, Lisa
Leslie, Dara Torres, Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh and more. The season premiere will air Monday, September 8.

FIESTA NIGHT
Bring out your sombrero and join the Sky for Fiesta Night during the Thursday, September 4 game vs. the Seattle Storm. The Sky will be giving away maracas to all fans in attendance and a mariachi band will play on the concourse. In addition to the Fiesta Night activities, Miggs Band, whose song "I Believe" is quickly climbing the Hot AC/Top 40 charts, will also perform at half time.
SKY SPORTS CAREER FAIR
The Sky is hosting the Chicago Sky Career Fair, geared towards individuals interested in careers in sports, on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion in advance of the Chicago Sky vs. Seattle Storm game. Attendees will be able to meet with representatives from various teams, companies and departments to find out about full, part-time and seasonal positions as well as internships. Organizations and teams confirmed to attend include: Chicago Sky, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Wolves, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Fire, Chicago Shamrox, Chicago Storm, Chicago Red Stars, Windy City Thunderbolts, Arena Football 2 and more. September 2: Jia Perkins and Cathy Joens will be making appearances at Chicagoland Jewel-Osco stores to meet with fans and sign autographs. Catch Jia Perkins at the Jewel-Osco at 2940 N. Ashland and Cathy Joens at Jewel-Osco at 1220 S. Ashland, both from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. today. September 3: Sylvia Fowles will be appearing at Dominick's at 1340 S. Canal Street from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on behalf of Beringer Wines, where she will sign autographs and take photos with fans.
