Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI -- It's a presidential election year, and if you've been following the local political scene, you know all about Corpus Christi Hooks mascots Rusty Hook and Sammy Seagull squaring off in a campaign to promote Affordable Family Entertainment.

In fact, Affordable Family Entertainment is the only plank in each of their platforms.

This is no departure from the norm with the Hooks and Ryan-Sanders Baseball.

"Catch A Memory will always be more than a catch phrase for us, but in any season -- be it 2008 or otherwise -- Affordable Family Entertainment is what draws people back to Whataburger Field," Hooks general manager Michael Wood said. "Memories are about great times at a good price delivered with excellent customer service."

As the Hooks attract families to the ballpark, Wood understands the importance of keeping ticket, parking and concession costs reasonable. Added value for the

ticket-holder is something the Hooks believe in and rely on. It resonates with the public in times of economic difficulty.

"Our most expensive advance ticket is just $10," Wood noted. "General admission tickets are $5. We have 31 promotional giveaways in 2008, including eight geared specifically for children. There are also numerous events and benefits at Whataburger Field in conjunction with membership in Rusty's Kids Club."

Here's a look at the various programs in place to deliver on the promises of Rusty and Sammy:

Always Affordable Tickets -- General admission tickets are always $5 at Whataburger Field. Reserved seat tickets are $10 when purchased in advance and just $12 on game days. There are $1, $2 and $3 discounts for groups of 20 or more in both general admission and reserved seating. Price breaks are based on the number of fans in a party.

Juniors (12-and-under), seniors (55+) and military members enjoy $9 reserved seat tickets when purchased in advance, based on availability.

Hooks/USS Lexington/Texas State Aquarium Triple Play -- Pick up a voucher from any of these great family attractions and enjoy $2 off the price of admission at all three.

Hooks Heroes -- On each Monday during the season, $5 nets a Hooks Heroes t-shirt, $1 hot dog and $1 soda. Hooks Heroes are former players who distinguished themselves with on-field performance and wide fan popularity while playing in Corpus Christi.

Half-Price Group Night -- Tuesdays means $5 reserved seat tickets and $2.50 general admission accommodations for all groups. This program is sponsored by Champion Automotive.

Whataburger Wednesdays -- The popular hamburger chain is synonymous with Corpus Christi, and the Hooks reward Whataburger customers with 1/2 off the cost of up to four reserved seat tickets upon presentation of a Whataburger receipt at the box office.

Thirsty Thursdays -- Weekends at Whataburger Field start on Thursday nights with discounted beer and soda, brought to you by Stripes. Present a receipt from Stripes at the box office and get 1/2 off the cost of up to four reserved seats.

Saturdays and Sundays -- The majority of premium items are given away by the Hooks on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturday giveaways are geared for the first 2,500 fans regardless of age. Children 12-and-under are the focus on Sundays, with 2008 offerings ranging from baseball gloves to fishing poles to team card sets to bobbleheads to lunchboxes to backpacks. And, all kids have the opportunity to run the bases postgame, presented by H-E-B.

Fan Clubs -- Rusty's Kids Club, sponsored by Driscoll Children's Health Plan, is an organization for children 12-and-under. For a $15 annual fee, each child receives an exclusive cap, stadium blanket and membership card, which can be used for a 10 percent discount at Hook, Line & Sinker, official team retail store. Members also enjoy up to 35 general admission tickets, special Kids Club pregame parties every Sunday home game and access to the Driscoll Children's Hospital Kids Zone on Sundays. Value: $225.

Sammy's Birthday Club is also designed for kids 12-and-younger. Members get a Sammy Seagull baseball card, a birthday card on their special day, two reserved seat tickets to a game and an exclusive t-shirt. Birthday Club boys and girls are also issued a voucher to participate in a parade led by Sammy in the outfield. Belonging to Sammy's Birthday Club costs just $5 a year and the program is underwritten by NavyArmy Federal Credit Union.

The Silver Sluggers, sponsored by 1st Community Bank, is open to Hooks fans age 55+. Annual membership is $15 for a package valued at $70. Seniors receive an exclusive t-shirt, personal fan, baseball cap (men), visor (women) and 10 percent off at Hook, Line & Sinker. Silver Sluggers enjoy two reserved seat tickets to three home games.

To purchase tickets or sign up for any of the fan clubs, go to cchooks.com or visit Whataburger Field during games or between the hours of 9 and 5 Monday through Saturday.
