Simmons Takes Home Pitcher Of The Week Award

James Simmons picked up the Texas League Pitcher of the Week Award (April 28th - May 4th) for his two starts against San Antonio and Frisco last week.
Simmons posted an outstanding 1.93 ERA in 14 innings against San Antonio and Frisco last week, while picking up the victory in one and getting a no decision in the other. The Oakland A's 2007 first round (26th overall) draft pick continued his strong start to the season by going seven innings in both starts, while striking out 13 and only walking two.
This is the third time this season a RockHounds player has been recognized as the Texas League Player or Pitcher of the Week. Jesus Guzman took home the honor twice in the first month and continues to stay atop the league leaders in hitting, RBI and slugging percentage.
The RockHounds are currently four and a half games behind the RoughRiders in the South Division and hope to make up a little ground the next two nights in Frisco, before traveling to San Antonio this weekend.
