Gwinnett Stripers News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Pitchers Julio Teheran and Todd Redmond, outfielders Jose Constanza and Luis Durango, designated hitter Stefan Gartrell and first baseman Ernesto Mejia are just a few of the Gwinnett Braves on the ballot for the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game, released on Friday, May 25 by MiLB.com. Online voting, sponsored by Pert Plus, continues through Friday, June 22 at MiLB.com. A link to the ballot is also online at GwinnettBraves.com.
Teheran, the 2011 International League Most Valuable Pitcher and Rookie of the Year, eyes a Triple-A All-Star bid for the second-consecutive season with Gwinnett. Gartrell, the winner of the Triple-A Home Run Derby as part of last year's festivities in Salt Lake City, UT also hopes to represent the G-Braves on the IL squad once again, as does Constanza.
Mejia, currently seventh in the league with 32 RBI and eighth in batting average at .304, hopes to be elected to the game in his first Triple-A season. Durango, who leads the league in stolen bases with 22 in 27 attempts, also looks to add "All-Star" to his resume in his first season as a G-Brave. Redmond, a fourth-year member of the Gwinnett rotation, ranks 10th in the IL in ERA at 2.63 and hopes to make his first Triple-A All-Star Game as a result.
Here's a look at all of the G-Braves currently on the ballot:
First Base: Ernesto Mejia
Shortstop: Josh Wilson
Third Base: Joey Terdoslavich
Catcher: J.C. Boscan
Designated Hitter: Stefan Gartrell
Outfield: Jose Constanza, Luis Durango, Jordan Parraz
Starting Pitcher: Yohan Flande, Eric Junge, Todd Redmond, Julio Teheran
Relief Pitcher: Jaye Chapman, Cory Gearrin, Dusty Hughes, Adam Russell
Players not listed on the ballot can be included in the write-in space at the bottom of the page. As in previous years, the fan vote will count toward one-third (33 percent) of a player's total and will be added to the votes of the media (33 percent) and Triple-A field/general managers (33 percent) to select the starting players.
Fans who vote online can enter a sweepstakes in which you have a chance to win a jersey autographed by the 2012 All-Stars as well as a subscription to MiLB.TV and other great prizes.
The 2012 Triple-A All-Star festivities take place at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY, beginning with the Home Run Derby on July 9. The Triple-A All-Star Game happens two days later on July 11, first pitch scheduled for 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network.
