KEIZER, Oregon - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes had a strong performance in an 8-3 victory over the Spokane Indians. They ended the Indians' three-game winning streak in the five-run victory. Melvin Adon took the mound for the Volcanoes, facing off against C.D. Pelham.

The Indians struck first blood when third baseman Anderson Tejeda singled to right field, bringing in second baseman Blaine Prescott. Right fielder Preston Scott did the same thing when he singled to right field to bring in Tejeda.

But it did not take long for the Volcanoes to come back as first baseman Ryan Kirby singled to right field to bring in center fielder Ashford Fulmer. Second baseman Kevin Rivera then hit an RBI double to left-center field, scoring Kirby on the play.

The Indians took back the lead in the top half of the third as Scott singled to right field to knock in shortstop Charles LeBlanc, putting the score at 3-2.

The Volcanoes' offense blew up in the bottom half of the third inning, putting up a six spot. Shortstop Ryan Howard got things started with a two-run RBI double to bring in right fielder Heath Quinn and left fielder Gio Brusa. Fulmer then scored on a pass ball by Indians catcher Clay Middleton.

Volcanoes catcher Zach Bowers hit an RBI double of his own to score Howard. Rivera got his second RBI of the game after hitting a single to center field to bring in Bowers. The final run of the inning came when third baseman Manuel Geraldo hit yet another RBI double to center field, bringing in Rivera. After the dust settled in the third inning, the Volcanoes were up 8-3.

That was the last time either team scored as the Volcanoes cruised the rest of the way to an 8-3 victory.
