Defensive Struggles Cost Dust Devils
August 7, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (3-6, 22-25) suffered their fourth shutout of the season as the team lost 4-0 to the Boise Hawks (4-5, 20-27) Saturday night at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils were able to get five runners in scoring position, but could not capitalize on any of the opportunities.
Starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi delivered an impressive performance for Tri-City. Lucchesi, who has a limited pitch count after a heavy workload in college this spring, kept Boise off the scoreboard and struck out seven batters in his four innings on the mound.
The defense for the Dust Devils struggled throughout the game. The team committed two errors, leading to two of Boise's four runs being unearned.
Tri-City will send right-hander Jordan Guerrero to the mound in the fourth game of the five-game series on Sunday. Right-hander Erick Julio will toe the rubber for the Hawks. It will be Hat and Team Poster Giveaway Night presented by Community Real Estate Group. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
