
Canadians Comeback Falls Short In Eugene

Eugene, OR - After falling behind by five, the Vancouver Canadians mounted a late inning rally that fell a run short as Eugene topped the C's 5-4 on Saturday night. The loss was Vancouver's second straight in this five-game series.
Vancouver's offense mustered up just six hits on the night as the Canadians had its chances but finished 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position on Saturday night. Bryan Lizardo was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored while J.B. Woodman was 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored as well.
On the mound, Canadians RHP Denis Diaz absorbed his first loss of the season (0-1) as he pitched four innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs as Eugene jumped out to the early, decisive lead.
Geno Encina (1.0IP); RHP Gabe Noyalis (2.0IP) and RHP Jackson McClelland (1.0IP) kept the game close as Vancouver scored a pair of runs in both the top of the 7th and 8th innings to bring the game to within a run.
With the loss, Vancouver falls back below .500 (4-5) and move to 1-7 on the season against the NWL best Eugene Emeralds with two regular season games remaining.
Vancouver plays game four of this five game series on Sunday, August 7th, at 5:01pm with RHP Mike Ellenbest getting the ball with the hopes of Vancouver evening this series heading into its finale on Monday.
