SPOKANE, Wash. - Salem-Keizer's power surge was too much for the Indians to overcome as the Volcanoes defeated Spokane, 9-3, and handed the Indians their fifth consecutive home loss on Jersey Off The Back & Azteca Taco Tuesday presented by The General Store and Hot 96.9.
TOP PERFORMERS
Franklin Labour continues to destroy baseballs. After launching two homers on Monday, he followed it up with two more on Tuesday. He leads the NWL with nine long balls this season.
Joe Corbett struck out five in two scoreless innings. The Texas Rangers' 10th round pick this season has struck out nine in four no-hit innings for Spokane.
Daniel Robert pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Since giving up a run in his first appearance, Robert has 10.2 consecutive scoreless frames, striking out 15 and walking just two.BY THE NUMBERS
Salem-Keizer has now hit a NWL leading 24 home runs this season. By contrast, Spokane has just eight.
Spokane's five-game home losing streak is their longest since losing eight straight in August of 2016.
Obie Ricumstrict is fourth in the NWL with 15 RBI after driving in another run on Tuesday.KEY MOMENT
With two outs in the top of the first, Labour hit the first of his two homers, a two-run shot off Florencio Serrano. It was a sign of things to come as Salem-Keizer blasted four homers and led 8-1 after three innings.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Spokane remains tied for first place in the North Division after Tri-City also lost on Tuesday. Everett is a game behind. In the South, Salem-Keizer keeps pace with Hillsboro to stay a game behind them after the Hops hand the Canadians another loss.
