(Volcanoes Stadium - Keizer, OR) - It had been more than a week since Salem-Keizer (2-8) left the field victorious, but on Sunday they did the Canadians (7-3) in convincing fashion topping Vancouver 8-1 out at Volcanoes Stadium.

The Volcanoes offense wasted little time getting after Canadians starter RHP Taylor Cole grabbing a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and a trio of runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning high-lighted by a two-run single from 2B Kaohi Downing that scored both RF Jesus Galindo and CF Shawn Payne extending Salem-Keizer's early lead to 4-0.

Vancouver didn't get on the board until the top of the 5th inning when C Pierce Rankin hit his second home run of the season off of Salem-Keizer starter RHP Lorenzo Mendoza. Canadians 2B Jon Berti managed a triple shortly after, but couldn't score as CF Jon Jones grounded out to end the frame.

Mendoza would go six innings, scattering three hits while striking out nine Vancouver hitters.

The Volcanoes turned up the heat in the bottom of the 5th inning getting home runs from C Joe Staley and LF Leonardo Ochoa giving Salem-Keizer their biggest lead of the season at 7-1. Staley would hit his second home run of the night in the bottom of the 7th inning putting the game out of reach, snapping Vancouver's winning streak at three games.

Note: Vancouver falls behind a game behind Northwest League West Division leaders Eugene (8-2) who topped Everett (3-7) 14-4 at Memorial Stadium in Everett, WA.
