The Road Warriors announced today that Mark Voakes has been loaned to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Voakes, 26, a native of St. Thomas, Ontario registered 55 points (17G, 38A) in 60 games this season, and ranks first on the Road Warriors in overall points and assists. Voakes has played in 93 career ECHL games collecting a total of 28 goals and 48 for 76 points.
Voakes was acquired by the Road Warriors before the start of the season from Bakersfield where finished second on the team in playoff scoring with eight points (3G, 5A) in eight games during the 2010 playoffs. A two-time First-Team All Ontario University Athletics (OAU) selection, his 154 points at Wilfrid Laurier rank fourth all-time in school history and was named the OUA's Most Sportsmanlike Player in 06-07.
