
Vipers Sign AAA Pitcher

The Calgary Vipers Professional Baseball Club have signed pitcher Edward Valdez to a 2011 North American League contract. The right-hander is entering his tenth season professionally and spent seven years in affiliated ball with the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, and Colorado Rockies. The Dominican Republic resident has 50 games at the AAA level and another 91 appearances at AA. Last season the 6'4" 215-pounder played in the Japanese Major Leagues.
Calgary concludes a four game series against Kevin Costner's first place Lake County Fielders at Foothills Stadium on Friday June 17th with a double-header at 3:30 and 6:30 for Aboriginal Night with 50% off regular admission with Metis or CIS card.
The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
