Yuma Scorpions News Release

Yuma, AZ-- Starting pitcher Andrew Romo (1-2, 1.86 ERA) had nine-strikeouts through 6 2/3 innings throwing. The Scorpions had 12-runs to go along with the strong bullpen performance tonight as well. True, the Scorpions were cruising along when the bullpen needed to take over, but they were finally relaxed even in tense situations.

Romo only gave up 3-runs and only 1 earned run. When Romo took a bow in the 7th after only 2 walks and a 9-3 lead, the bases were loaded for Jacob Wiley. Wiley was also able to drop his ERA to 3.75. Wiley came in an struck out the batter, quieting any chance of a comeback. Wiley cruised through the rest of the lineup before heeding to Reyes Dorado who quickly shut down the final three-batters, striking out two.

The other side of the coin was the outstanding offense. 12-runs were put up by the Scorpions including a solo homerun by Juan Camacho. Camacho has been struggling of late, but to keep his slump in perspective, he leads the team in RBI's, Homerun's and is second only to Gathright in batting average with .380. Camacho picked up four-more RBI's in the game tonight.

The much needed win will make the next two off days even better for the team. Yuma is only 4.5 games back now. The Scorpions will play again on Saturday, June 18 against the Edmonton Capitals. Game time is 7:35pm and is also Boy Scouts of America Night.
