Calgary Vipers News Release

Thanks to a 4-3 Victoria Seals victory over the Edmonton Capitals earlier today the Calgary Vipers have won the Golden Baseball League's North Division first half pennant. The Vipers are currently three games up on the Capitals and with only four Calgary games remaining in the first half schedule, it is impossible for Edmonton to catch up. With the pennant the Snakes secure a North Division Championship Series playoff date which will take place the first week of September. This is now the third straight season the Vipers have won a first half pennant and made the playoffs.

Tonight, Monday July 6th, Tuesday July 7th, and Wednesday July 8th all at 8:05 PM MDT the Vipers wrap up a ten-games-in-nine-days road trip against the Orange County Flyers. This evening Andy Torres (0-0) will make his first start of the season for the Snakes. Joe Sergent (3-3) and Hideki Nagasaka (2-0) will pitch in games two and three of the series.

Calgary returns home to Foothills Stadium on Friday July 10th at 7:05 PM MDT when they host the Yuma Scorpions for a three-game series including games on Saturday July 11th at 5:05 PM MDT and Sunday July 12th at 1:35 PM MDT. On Friday it will be Mexican Night at the ballpark, on Saturday is Movie Night as Sandlot will be shown on the big screen after the game, and on Sunday it is Bark at the Park and Little League Day where fans can bring their dog to the game and all Little Leaguers get in for free at the Stadium.

Tickets can be purchased over the phone at 403-277-2255 or by stopping in at the Vipers Ticket Office at 2255 Crowchild Trail N.W. All games can be heard live online at www.calgaryvipers.com.
