
Vipers Acquire Wayne Stewart Jr.

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that the team has acquired forward Wayne Stewart Jr. from the available player pool.
Stewart Jr. (6-7, 185lbs) spent some time with the Vipers during the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup where he averaged 7.0 points and 2.0 rebounds during the two-game tournament. Prior to that, he appeared in one game for the Sioux Falls Skyforce during the 2022-23 Regular Season and in seven games during the 2022-23 Showcase Cup.
During the 2021-22 campaign Stewart played overseas with Froya Basket of the Norwegian BLNO. He played in 32 games, 29 of which he started, averaging 23.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks.
The Pennsylvania native spent the 2018-20 seasons playing for Texas A&M Commerce and finished with 42 games played. He averaged 14.5 points and 6.3 rebounds. He played in one game during the 2017-18 season with New Mexico State. His collegiate career kicked off in 2015 as he spent two seasons with Lamar Community College. The forward averaged 15.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 61 games played.
Stewart Jr. is expected to be available for today's game against the Birmingham Squadron at Legacy Arena. The game may be streamed via the www.NBAGLeague.comwebsite with tip-off set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
