Moncton Wildcats News Release

Video streaming of the Moncton Wildcats first two playoff games in Victoriaville last weekend, met with overwhelming success.

Figures released by Aliant, who provides the service, show that close to 11,000 fans from around the globe tuned in to see and hear the games.

"This is the highest number of internet hits we've recorded in our three years of providing this service to our fans," said the General Manager of the Wildcats Bill Schurman. "We were aware of the great level of interest in the games but did not expect to have the level of response the games generated. The service was a co-operative effort between the Wildcats, Aliant and Bell Canada with considerable support by the Victoriaville organization which worked closely with our audio-visual coordinator Brian Fisher, assisted by Lloyd Kay and our play-by-play broadcaster Les Stoodley.

We have received very positive response from fans along with the parents and families of the Wildcats players, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to see road games," Schurman added.

The broadcast provided a pre-game show along with intermission guests from the Wildcats, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and parents of players from both teams.

Sponsors of the internet broadcasts are Atlantic Mazda, the Arrow Group and the Cat Rental Store.

Fans are advised to check the Wildcats website www.moncton-wildcats.com for information on continuing coverage.
