Victoria Seals Extend August Homestand

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals are proud to announce that their mid-August games against the St. George RoadRunners (originally set to take place in Utah) have been rescheduled into a three-game series from August 20-22 at Royal Athletic Park. The change comes as a result of recent developments with the state of St. George franchise.
The Golden Baseball League announced today that Hot Corner Baseball, owner and operator of the Roadrunners, is ceasing team operations due to a lack of ability to meet financial obligations for the last month of season.
A three-game series between Victoria and St. George will open up on Friday, August 20 at 7:05 p.m. (PT). The second game will take place on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. (PT) with the finale of the set slated for Sunday afternoon, a matinee 1:35 p.m. (PT) start time. All season tickets holders will be welcome to their seats at no additional cost, available either at the Seals office (1014 Caledonia Avenue) or at the Will Call gate on game nights.
Diamond Sports, the founder of the Golden Baseball League and owner of the Chico and Yuma franchises, is stepping in effective today, through a voluntary foreclosure, to provide the ongoing financial and management support to the team to enable it to continue to complete the season as a road team. Efforts are underway to find a new ownership group for the team.
Hot Corner Baseball, led by southern California businessmen Will Joyce, Ed Wong, and Michael Leyva purchased the Roadrunners in the off-season from St. George resident Todd Vowell. Despite keeping the experienced front office intact and the core of players that led St. George to the second half South Division championship last season, the team struggled on the field and at the gate all year. The group has not filed for bankruptcy and is working to meet their existing commitments with employees, fans, and business partners in the St. George community.
Victoria returns home this weekend to open up a series against the Tucson Toros at Royal Athletic Park. Game one is Thursday, August 5th at 7:05 p.m. (PT). Tickets are available now by calling (250) 220-7777 or by purchasing online at www.victoriaseals.ca.
