
Veteran forward to make fourth CHL All-Star Game appearance

WICHITA, KS- Thunder center Travis Clayton was named one of the Northern Conference's six starters for the Central Hockey League Dodge 2003 All-Star Game later this month, the CHL announced today.
Clayton, in his sixth season with the Thunder, was selected to his second straight and fourth ever CHL All-Star Team. The starting lineups were chosen though balloting by CHL coaches, broadcasters and selected media members.
A 26-year-old native of Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, Clayton currently ranks third in the CHL for both assists (29) and points (46), and is also tied for the Thunder team lead with 17 goals. Clayton is Wichita's all-time leader in games played (354), assists (246), points (415), game-winning goals (19), power play goals (52) and shorthanded goals (17).
The Northern Conference will take on the Southern Conference All-Stars on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:15 p.m. in Oklahoma City, OK. Clayton scored a pair of goals in last season's CHL All-Star Game, helping the Northern Conference to a 7-4 victory at Corpus Christi, TX.
Clayton's starting linemates for the game will be Don Parsons of Memphis and Todd Marcellus of Tulsa, ranked 1-2 among all CHL scorers. Other starters include Memphis defenseman Derek Landmesser, Oklahoma City defenseman Hardy Sauter and Tulsa goaltender Rod Branch. The remainder of the team will be announced on Wednesday, January 8th, and will be chosen by Tulsa's Garry Unger, head coach of the Northern Conference All-Star Squad.
The Thunder will be taking a bus trip to the CHL All-Star Game and have 50 seats available at $30 each. The bus will leave from Lawrence Dumont Stadium on January 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
Wichita returns to action at Indianapolis tomorrow for a 6:00 p.m. face-off with the Ice. The game can be heard on Sunny 1360 KAHS and online at www.wichitathunder.com. The Thunder play at home on Saturday to host the Oklahoma City Blazers at 7:30 p.m. It is Thunder Dog's 10th birthday party, sponsored by Sonic Drive-In, and will feature the annual intermission mascot broomball game.
