(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - On a night where all three challenging teams in the West Division lost, the Vancouver Canadians let a three-run lead slip away falling 9-3 to Tri-City on Wednesday in Pasco, WA. The loss was Vancouver's second straight.

The Canadians opened the scoring in the top of the 1st inning when Tri-City starter RHP Peter Tago walked home LF Derek Chung with the bases loaded to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

Vancouver would extend the lead to three in the top of the 4th inning as they capitalized on a pair of Dust Devils errors including one charged to 1B Miguel De Leon would had trouble handling a pickoff attempt on Canadians RF Carlos Ramirez. With Ramirez now out at second base, C Leo Hernandez would single to center field helping the Canadians to a 3-0 lead.

Starter RHP Ben White dazzled over his five innings of work for the Canadians striking out a season-high six hitters while scattering just two hits before handing the ball off to RHP Eric Brown.

The former UBC standout struggled in the bottom of the 6th inning giving up a two-run home run to LF Francisco Sosa that scored C Tom Murphy (walk) to cut the Vancouver lead to 3-2.

Brown would get two quick outs in the bottom of the 7th inning before Tri-City sent eight straight hitters to the plate that all reached base. After giving up three runs in the frame, Brown was replaced by RHP Bryan Longpre, but he would issue a walk to Dust Devils RF Derek Jones before allowing three straight hits to 3B Matt Argyropoulos, 1B Miguel De Leon and 2B Patrick Hutchenson. When all the dust had settled, Tri-City had produced seven runs and led Vancouver 9-3, which would be the final.

With the loss, Vancouver remains two games up on Eugene for top spot in the West Division as the Emeralds, Everett and Salem-Keizer all lost on Wednesday as well.
