
ValleyCats Fall to Cyclones 8-3 In Series Opener

TROY, N.Y.-The Tri-City ValleyCats were defeated 8-3 by the Brooklyn Cyclones at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Sunday night in front of 4,124. The Cyclones produced five doubles and three home runs en route to the victory.
The ValleyCats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when catcher Jason Castro hit an RBI double to centerfield. Designated hitter Mike Diaz followed with a groundout that scored first baseman Phil Disher. The lead did not stand, though, as the Cyclones tied the game in the fifth inning and took the lead in the seventh.
Brooklyn's offensive effort was paced by catcher Jordan Abruzzo who had two hits including one home run, two runs scored and one run batted in. Joshua Satin gave Brooklyn the lead in the seventh inning with his fourth home run of the season. Left fielder Seth Williams added two doubles and two RBI.
The ValleyCats continue their series against Brooklyn on Monday at 7 p.m. A fireworks display presented by Price Chopper will follow the game.
