Valdez Sweeps Doubleheader

Sweeping a double-header for a second straight night the Calgary Vipers (15-11) defeated the Chico Outlaws (8-16) 5-2 at Nettleton Stadium in Chico, California in the back half of two seven inning games. Edward Valdez (1-1) made his first start of the season and was brilliant in allowing only three hits and one walk for two runs in six innings of work. A night after recording his first win Scott Watson (1) recorded his first save by retiring the only two batters he faced. At the plate the top of the lineup did the damage with Jonny Kaplan and Wilver Perez scoring two runs each while Andy Jenkins drove in two runs. Ryan Screnar (0-1) took the loss for Chico in giving up five runs in four and a third innings.

The Vipers continue this seven games in five days series in Chico against the Outlaws on Tuesday June 21st at 8:00.

Calgary will return home on Thursday June 23rd at 7:05 to take on the Strong Warriors of Maui.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
