Holding their opponent to four hits the Calgary Vipers (14-11) defeated the Chico Outlaws (8-15) 3-0 at Nettleton Stadium in Chico, California in the first half of a double-header featuring two seven inning games. Getting the start and win Dusty Gober (2-1) did not allow a run on four hits in six and two-third innings with five strikeouts while Claudio Galva (8) earned the save by striking out the only batter he faced. At the plate Medicine Hat's Drew Miller hit his team leading ninth home run to give his team the lead in the fourth frame. David Roberts (0-3) registered the loss by giving up three runs in five innings.
Game 2 of this double-header is scheduled for 8:45.
The Vipers continue this seven games in five days series in Chico against the Outlaws on Tuesday June 21st at 8:00.
Calgary will return home on Thursday June 23rd at 7:05 to take on the Strong Warriors of Maui.
The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
