Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley today issued qualifying offers for the 2010-2011season to seven players. Players who were contracted with the New York Islanders or Calgary Flames organizations in 2009-2010 are not eligible to be qualified by Utah.
In addition, the rights to defenseman Tim Maxwell have been traded to Florida as future considerations to complete the February 1 trade that brought Steve McJannet to Utah.
Forwards Dylan Hunter (Totaled 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points in 43 games with Utah and split 19 AHL games between Milwaukee and Rochester in 2009-2010.)
Marcus Carroll (21-year-old was signed March 16 following his junior career in OHL with Owen Sound.)
Defensemen Brian Kilburg (The six-foot-three defenseman tallied two goals and four assists in 18 total games with Utah after being signed March 18.)
Matt Sorteberg (The six-foot-one defenseman was a plus-six in 56 total games with Utah and Idaho during his rookie season after being acquired from the Steelheads January 13.)
Justin Suda (The six-foot-three defenseman, who was acquired from Toledo March 10, tallied three assists in eight Utah playoff games.)
Brock Wilson (The six-foot-one defenseman had two goals and six assists for eight points in 39 games after being acquired from Toledo December 30.)
Goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris (Left for Europe during the 2009 training camp. However, the Grizzlies have elected to retain his rights, should he opt to return to the ECHL. In that event, he will sign with Utah or the Grizzlies will trade him.)
The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until Aug. 1; at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season. All players qualified by Utah are non-veterans.
The Grizzlies open the 2010-2011 season Friday, October 15 in Alaska with the home opener being Friday, October 22 when Utah welcomes Bakersfield to Maverik Center for a 7:05 p.m. start.
