Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD Calif. -The Bakersfield Condors have extended qualifying offers to six players from the 2009-10 season ending roster. Forwards Stephane Goulet, Dan Kissel, Adam Naglich and Mark Voakes, as well as defensemen Ken Morin and Evan Stoflet all received offers prior to the July 1 deadline. Only players who were under a standard professional contract in the ECHL in 2009-10 were eligible to be qualified.
Goulet led the Condors in 2009-10 in just about every offensive category, including goals, assists and points. He will be entering his fifth professional season.
Kissel (below) made an impact in his brief time in Condorstown, recording seven goals in just 11 games after finishing his college career at Notre Dame. He also added the National Conference Quarterfinals clincher with less than a minute remaining in Game 5 against Victoria.
Naglich tied for sixth on the Condors in scoring during his rookie season in 2009-10 with 39 points in 69 games, and tied for fourth with 16 goals. He was also tied for the team lead with three shorthanded goals, and was a +6 on the season.
Voakes wrapped up his rookie season with the Condors after being acquired from Cincinnati in a March deal. He had 21 points in 31 regular season games, and tied a Condors rookie record with eight points in the playoffs, finishing tied for second on the team.
Morin (right) played 19 games last season after finishing his college career in Canada, recording four points and a +3. He did not play enough games to lose his rookie status for 2010-11.
Stoflet was a solid defensive defenseman for the Condors after his December acquisition from Utah. He had 10 assists in 62 games, and added four points in 10 playoff games, while leading the team in the postseason with a +4.
According to the ECHL/Professional Hockey Players Association Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players. Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded.
The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until Aug. 1 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season.
