Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - The Idaho Steelheads announced Friday the names of eight players who received qualifying offers for the 2010-2011 season. The ECHL mandated that qualifying offers had to be extended to players by July 1.

Here are the players: F Mark Derlago, F Mark McCutcheon, F Evan Barlow, F John Swanson, F Ashton Rome, F Tyler Spurgeon, D Dustin Friesen, and D Steve Oleksy.

None of the eight players given qualifying offers by Idaho have reached "veteran" status (minimum of 260 professional regular-season games played going into 2010-2011 season). As such, Idaho owns the ECHL rights to these players for one season.

The qualifying offer is valid until August 1. However, the player can still agree to a contract with the team after that date. Any player who had signed a contract with a team prior to July 1 did not receive a qualifying offer. Also, players under contract with an AHL or NHL affiliate did not receive qualifying offers from ECHL teams.

The players extended qualifying offers by the Steelheads were part of a team that had the ECHL's best record, won the National Conference, and reached the Kelly Cup Finals before falling to the Cincinnati Cyclones.

Ticket plans for the 2010-2011 season are available right now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games during the regular season. Partial-season plans are also available. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
