March 16, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release
MATCH PREVIEW
EDINBURG, Tx. - The 2019 Zorros de Fresno continue USL Championship regular season on the road, playing at Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in Week 2. Los Zorros and Los Toros will kick off at 5:30 p.m. PT from H-E-B Park. The match will be televised on CW 59 and streamed online via ESPN Plus. Fresno will aim to defeat an RGV side for the first time in its series history, after playing to a 2-2 draw in Fresno and a 2-1 loss in Edinburg in 2018. Both clubs are seeking their first victories of 2019, with Fresno playing to a 1-1 draw at New Mexico and RGV falling 1-0 to Tacoma Defiance in Week 1. LB Alex Cooper will look to lead Fresno FC to its first win of 2019 after being named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday. Cooper provided the game-tying assist to Jackson's goal in the 47th minute. The Toros return midfielder Victor Garza for the third season and is expected to have a more impactful role for RGV after a knee injury sidelined him for most of 2018. In their USL Championship opener, RGV outshot Tacoma 17-12, with Maalique Foster and Carlos Small leading the charge, however, the squad only managed to see two of those chances fall on target.
