
Upstate University Hospital Named Presenting Sponsor of Syracuse Crunch's 20th Anniversary Season

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch are proud to announce that Upstate University Hospital has extended their relationship with the hockey team, including presenting sponsorship of the organization's 20th anniversary.
The home season begins Saturday night, Oct. 12, when the Syracuse Crunch host the Rochester Americans on Oct. 12. The 2013 home opener will begin with Upstate University Hospital employees and survivors assisting in the opening ceremony and in raising the team's 2013 Eastern Conference Championship banner prior to puck drop. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will also receive a mini Eastern Conference Championship banner courtesy of Upstate University Hospital.
The celebration continues throughout the season with the Upstate University Hospital 20th Anniversary Team program. This program will take place over the course of the season and highlight the team's 20 year history, recognizing the best players to have worn a Crunch uniform.
The largest hospital in the Syracuse area, Upstate University Hospital is a 715-bed facility located on two campuses (Downtown and Community) that provides an array of specialty services for patients throughout Central New York, stretching from Canada to Pennsylvania. The hospital offers many one-of-a-kind services, including trauma and burn care, specialized care for pediatric cancer patients and specialized stroke treatment. It includes the region's only children's hospital, the 71-bed Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, which opened in September 2009 and the region's only specialized pediatric after hours care center, Golisano After Hours Care, and a special emergency room just for seniors.
Other notable pediatric services include a special children's surgery center, as well as clinics for ADHD, spina bifida and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Upstate is a leader in adult and pediatric cancer care employing some of the latest technologies for the treatment of all kinds of cancer. Upstate is currently building a new $74 million comprehensive outpatient cancer center to open in late 2013. Other notable services include the award-winning Jim and De De Walsh Family Birth Center, Wound Care Center, and the Upstate Stroke Center, which is a New York state Designated Stroke Center, and the Joslin Diabetes Center. It is the area's only Level 1 trauma center, a designation that ensures key medical specialists are available 24/7 to care for an array of injuries.
The Upstate University Hospital home opener is on Oct. 12 against the Rochester Americans.
