Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Admirals announced today that defenseman Scott Ford has been selected as the team's captain for the 2013-14 season.
Entering his sixth season with the Admirals, Ford is the team's all-time AHL leader in games played with 300, a record he broke on April 12 last season. The Fort St. John's, BC native has totaled 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points and 480 penalty minutes during his time in Milwaukee. Those PIMs are the second best on the team since joining the AHL in 2001. In addition, Ford has accumulated a +38 rating, which included a +24 rating in 2010-11, the best by an Admiral since the 2003-04 season.
The Brown University alum is no stranger to leadership roles with the Admirals. He wore the "C" as the team's captain during the 2011-12 season and was an assistant captain in three other years.
Last year Ford started the season in the St. Louis organization, but was acquired by Nashville in a trade in late February and proceeded to help the Admirals go 15-4-1 down the stretch and qualify for the post-season for 11th consecutive season, the longest current streak in the AHL.
Ford and the Admirals open the regular season on Friday, October 11 at the Abbotsford Heat and then will play their home opener on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center against the Chicago Wolves.
In addition, Antigo, WI native and University of Wisconsin alum Joe Piskula and forward Mark Van Guilder will serve as the team's assistant captains.
