CORPUS CHRISTI - Pregame concerts with local worship bands have always been an important part of Faith & Family Nights at Whataburger Field.

On Saturday, May 23, it's the first postgame performance from a national group in conjunction with a Faith & Family Night as Unspoken performs in the Goodwill Zone. The show, presented by TLC Complete Care, follows the Hooks' 7:05 game vs. the Midland RockHounds.

"We're delighted to bring such a talented and diverse band to the ballpark for our fans to enjoy," Hooks director of sales and marketing Andy Steavens said. "Unspoken has come on the scene with consecutive Top 5 singles off a full-length album."

Those hits - Who You Are and Lift My Life Up - are part of a 12-track album from Centricity Music named for the group and released last spring.

Christ's teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and other New Testament scriptures are the messages of "Unspoken."

Upcoming for Unspoken? "Unplugged," a 10-track acoustical compilation available online May 15.

Church group rates for May 23 are available through the Hooks by calling Amanda Pruett at 361-561-4697, or e-mailing her at apruett@cchooks.com

The team is also planning a player devotional, with details forthcoming.

Unspoken is multicultural band comprised of Chad Mattson (vocals), Mike Gomez (guitars), Jon Lowry (guitars/keyboards/vocals), and Ariel Munoz (drums). The band features members from Maine (Mattson and Lowry), Puerto Rico (Munoz), and the Dominican Republic (Gomez). They've toured with acts like Sanctus Real and Big Daddy Weave.

How did the band's name originate? According to its website, an aim "to live lives that are unspoken testimonies to God's love and power, and to speak what oftentimes goes unspoken. In those paired desires are born songs of hope that celebrate the journey of every believer and provide a bright hope for each new day."
