University of Nevada Head Football Coach Brian Polian to Throw out Ceremonial First Pitch Opening Da

RENO, Nev.- Brian Polian, recently appointed head coach of the University of Nevada Wolf Pack football team, has been chosen to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Aces Ballpark on Opening Night, the Aces announced today.

Opening Night is set for Friday, April 12 at 6:35 p.m., as the Aces take on the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. To accommodate the large crowd, gates will open at 5 p.m.

Polian became the 26th head coach in the 106-year history of the Wolf Pack football program in January. Polian, 38, comes to Nevada after a year as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Texas A&M. He also coached on both sides of the ball in years past, and earned a reputation as one of the top recruiters in the nation. His previous coaching roles include time at Stanford (2010-11), Notre Dame (2005-09), Central Florida (2004) and Buffalo (2001-03).

Polian's appearance is just one part of the Opening Night festivities. Opening Night will also feature a magnet schedule giveaway available to 9,000 fans at the gates. At the conclusion of the game, fans can enjoy the first Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4 of the season.
