COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Ed Easley was 4-for-4 at the plate, but it was not enough, as the Aces fell 6-2 to the Sky Sox at Security Service Field on Friday night.
The Aces combined for 11 hits-all singles-but were unable to capitalize on the efforts. Easley and Kila Ka'aihue scored Reno's only two runs. Ka'aihue was 2-for-3 at the dish in his second game for the Aces.
Reno starter Chase Anderson (0-1, 3.38 ERA), who was charged with the loss, gave up five runs-two earned---on five hits through 5.1 innings in his Triple-A debut.
The Aces bullpen gave up only one run, a solo home run by Nolan Arenado off Matt Gorgen. Warner Madrigal threw a perfect eighth inning for Reno, including two strikeouts, in his first appearance back in affiliated baseball since 2011.
Reliever Rob Scahill (1-0, 0.00) earned the win for Colorado Springs. Scahill threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, giving up only three hits to the Aces and striking out four.
The series continues Saturday afternoon at Security Service Field. RHP Charles Brewer (0-0, No ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Sky Sox will counter with LHP Drew Pomeranz (0-0, No ERA). First pitch is set for 12:35 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
