
United's Salihi called up for Albania friendly v Moldova

Washington, D.C. (August 1, 2012) - D.C. United announced today that striker Hamdi Salihi has been called-up to the Albanian National Team for an upcoming friendly against Moldova on August 15. Salihi will head home to Albania for the matchup at Qemal Stafa Stadium on August 12 and he will return to Washington on August 16.
Salihi has been a regular for the Albanian National Team throughout his career. The striker has scored nine goals in 37 senior team matches. Last year, Salihi scored three goals in ten international matches for Albania.
Salihi, signed for his prowess around the net - scoring 53 goals in 90 total matches (all competitions) with his previous club, was signed by the Black-and-Red in February of 2012. So far this season, Salihi has scored five goals in 16 appearances and has scored in five of United's last 11 games.
