HOUSTON, TX (Wednesday, August 1, 2012) -- Houston Dynamo forward Calen Carr and Dynamo Charities have announced a partnership for the remainder of the 2012 season. The campaign titled 'Calen's Big Play' will raise money for the Houston chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, with the goal of bringing a BBBS program to Rusk Elementary School in Houston's East End. Carr's initiative will include a charity-bowling event with himself and his teammates as well as a special ticket package for the Dynamo's August 19 match vs. the Columbus Crew, presented by Degree for Men.
"While my mom has always been my greatest influence, I was fortunate while growing up to have come across many people who served as big brothers to me," Carr said. "Whether it was an interested teacher, soccer coach or mentor in an after-school program, these peopled helped inspire me to dream big, both as a student and an athlete.
"I'm very excited to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Dynamo Charities and look forward to seeing the positive influence we can bring to the students of Rusk Elementary."
The charity-bowling event will take place on Wednesday, August 15 at 300 Houston. For $125 ($100 for Dynamo season ticket holders) fans receive two hours of bowling with their favorite Dynamo players, a 'Calen's Big Play' T-shirt as well as food and beverages. Joining Carr at 300 Houston will be Dynamo defenders Bobby Boswell and Corey Ashe, midfielders Adam Moffat and Colin Clark and forward Brian Ching. More players will be announced in the coming days.
