Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, GA—The Augusta Lynx would like to invite all Georgia area third, fourth, and fifth grade students to the Unite Georgia Anti-Smoking Game Tuesday, November 26th at 11:00 am. The Lynx will be hosting the South Carolina Stingrays. The Lynx have teamed up with the East Central Health District of Georgia Program "Tobacco Use Prevention" in making this game a possibility. The Augusta Lynx players will be addressing the issue of tobacco prevention. In order to receive admittance to the game, students must present an essay covering the adverse health affects of tobacco use. The essay must be at least one-half page.

Children are encouraged to bring a "brown bag" lunch to the game. There will be two eighteen minute intermissions in which children will have an opportunity to eat their lunches. Goodie bags will be distributed following the game. The game will last approximately two to two and a half hours, allowing ample time to return to school.

The East Central Health District Program "Tobacco Use Prevention" and Augusta Lynx, Inc. have purchased 4,000 tickets to be distributed to area elementary schools. The game is free of charge. A limited number of tickets are still available. For more information contact the Augusta Lynx Community Relations Department at 706-724-4423. The Lynx will host the Pensacola Ice Pilots Saturday, November 30th at 7:35 pm.
