Kingfish make moves

November 13, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release

The Baton Rouge Kingfish announced today that they have released defenseman Toni Bader and suspended forward Curtis Valentine.

In 14 games with the Kingfish, Bader tallied one assist while picking up 24 penalty minutes.

Valentine, who was acquired yesterday in a trade with Charlotte, has not reported to the Kingfish.

"Curtis is deciding whether or not to retire or continue his pro career," said Kingfish head coach Cam Brown. "He's pretty discouraged after having been traded two times just this season."

Valentine opened the season with the IceGators where he played one game before being traded to Charlotte.

The Kingfish have also placed center Bryan Richardson on the 7 day injured reserve after sustaining a hand injury. The 5'9", 185-pound center has already missed the last two games due to the injury.

The Kingfish continue to play without the services of center Jerry Gernander and defenseman Trevor Demmans.

Gernander continues to improve after breaking his foot on October 19th vs. the Louisiana IceGators.

Demmans sustained a lower leg injury in the Kingfish's 5-4 loss at Jackson on November 2nd.

Sunday is ‘Tiger Nite' at the ‘Fish Tank' as the Kingfish take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 4:05 p.m. The Kingfish will wear special "Tiger" jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game.
