
Union Visit Portland Timbers In Franchises' First Ever Clash

Chester, Pa. (May 2, 2011) -Philadelphia Union (4-1-1, 13 points) travel to Portland, Ore. to face Major League Soccer's 2011 expansion team the Portland Timbers (3-1-3, 10 points) on Friday, May 6 in the clubs' first ever encounter. The nationally televised match will kick off at 10:30 p.m. EST on Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer en Español.
The Union visit the Timbers with four wins and 13 points under their belts, after they defeated the San Jose Earthquakes, 1-0, last Saturday in a game that had the Union down a man for over 49 minutes. Sebastien Le Toux scored his first tally of the 2011 season and lone goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 76th minute, while midfielder Michael Farfan made his professional debut coming in at halftime for Roger Torres.
The Timbers host Philadelphia after ending Real Salt Lake's 18-regular season game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory and earning the franchise's first ever shutout at Jeld-Wen Field. Kenny Cooper scored a goal in the 22nd minute off a cross from Kalif Alhassan.
