Union to Play Alianza F.C. in 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16

CHESTER, Pa. - For the second time in club history, Philadelphia Union will be competing in the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. The Union travel to Estadio Cuscatlán to play Alianza F.C. in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, March 7th at 8:00 p.m. ET (FS1).

The CCL is a 16-team single elimination competition featuring teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, with the winner earning a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Union earned their second appearance in the tournament by becoming 2022 Eastern Conference Champions in the MLS regular season. The club reached the semifinals in their first appearance in 2021, eliminating Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica in the Round of 16 and Atlanta United in the quarterfinals.

The Union were drawn in the A8 position using a double-blind system and four pots. The first leg of the Round of 16 match is set to be played against Alianza F.C. on Tuesday, March 7th at 8:00 p.m. ET (FS1) at Estadio Cuscatlán . The second leg will be played on Tuesday, March 14th, at 8:00 p.m. ET (Fox Soccer Plus) at Subaru Park.
