CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union II took on Hartford Athletic at home Wednesday night, falling 3-2 in a well-played match. Hartford Athletic opened the scoring early in the eighth minute with a penalty from Mads Jorgensen and a goal in the 15th minute by Alex Lara. An own goal by Hartford's Idan Cohen made it 2-1 going into halftime. Caden Stafford found the net in the 60th minute to equalize, but Hartford's Danny Barrera scored the game winning goal in the 90th minute. Union II returns to action on Saturday, October 3rd for their final regular season match against Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET /ESPN+).

TEAM NOTES:
For the first time in club history the entire starting XI and matchday roster were products of the Union Academy...it was the youngest lineup in club history at 17.3... it was also the youngest starting XI in USL Championship history.
Caden Stafford scored his second goal of the season tonight.
Union homegrown midfielder Jack de Vries started his second game for Union II in the 2020 season. He last appeared for the squad in the season opener on March 7th and this was his fifth USL Championship appearance of his career.
Union II midfielder Zach Zandi returned to the squad from injury with an appearance in the 75'. The former academy product last appeared for the club back on July 18th against Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Union Academy goalkeeper Mitch Budler returned to the lineup between the posts for his sixth start of the season. Budler last started back on Sept. 6 at the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Union Academy defenders Brandan Craig and Anthony Sorenson made their 10th career starts for the Boys in Blue.
Signed Union Homegrown defender Nathan Harriel made his 35th career appearance for the club tonight with a start at right back.
