Unexpected Power Pushes Madison to Important Series Sweep

Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, WI - Madison flexed their muscles in the backend of Sunday's contest against Fond du Lac to sweep the series with a 10-4 victory and split on the season, 6-6.
For a third straight game, Madison took an early advantage with a 1st inning run. A two RBI single hit by Liam Moreno with two outs put the Mallards on the board against Eric Sipling. The lead grew by one run a piece in the 2nd and 4th innings on a Canyon Brown base hit and an Alex Harrell double.
The pitching staff struggled with walks again on Sunday afternoon. Starter Jake Hilton kept Fond du Lac hitless through four innings but walked a season-high six. Fond du Lac's scoring began against the Madison bullpen. Sam Duvall walked four and a Seth Sweet-Chick sacrifice fly put the Dock Spiders on the board in the 5th. Fond du Lac added two more in the 6th after a handful of free-passes were handed out. The game would be tied in the top of the 7th when Jared Heinzen homered for the third time this summer.
The 8th inning was a carnival. With Madison's Dalen Banks on the mound, he allowed three singles through the course of the frame and eventually danced out of it with a double-play rolled by Lorenzo Rios. In the home-half, Madison went yard three different times with home runs hit by players that were previously without a long ball. Canyon Brown, on the eve of his 20th birthday, hit a three-run bomb to break the tie, Chad McCann smashed a two-run shot, and Noah Sudyka blitzed a Jack Zupfer curveball to throw up a six-spot.
Madison takes their final regular season visit to Capital Credit Union Park in Green Bay beginning tomorrow to dance with the Rockers. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. CST on the road.
