Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce that 1,239 teddy bears were tossed on the ice during the Seventh Annual Teddy Bear Toss game presented by Kodiak Construction, WOTV and WKFR last Saturday, December 16th at Wings Stadium.
Kalamazoo extended their Teddy Bear Toss Game record to an amazing 11-0-0 (7-0-0 home and 4-0-0 away) with 4-2 victory against the Fort Wayne Komets.
The biggest winners during the game were the kids around southwest Michigan that will receive one of the 1,239 bears tossed during the K-Wings annual game. The bears collected were donated to the Angel Tree foundation, who will give the bears to less fortunate children in southwest Michigan.
Members of the Kalamazoo Wings will also deliver some bears tomorrow, December 18th at 2 p.m., when they visit the Children's Hospital at Bronson. Joining the players in spreading the holiday spirit on the visit will be Slappy and Santa Claus
Over the past seven years, the K-Wings have collected thousands of stuffed animals that were distributed to children during the holidays.
