Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Right wing Dmitri Tarabrin was granted an indefinite leave of absence from the team Sunday by Bloomington PrairieThunder coach Derek Booth because of family issues at home.
"Dmitri has some things at home dealing with his family that he needs to take care of," said Booth. "While we hate to lose a veteran player with so much experience, we understand that family has to come first."
Tarabrin had played in all 25 games for the PrairieThunder, scoring four goals with one assist for five points. Tarabrin's last game as in Saturday's 7-0 loss at Rockford.
"I hate to leave because I really liked the community and the people I met," said Tarabrin. "But I have a situation at home that I need to address. While the team is struggling a little bit right now, I really believe they have a lot of potential.
"The fans have to remember that it's a long season and we're a first-year team. It takes some time for things to come together and people to get comfortable with each other on the team."
The PrairieThunder also announced on Sunday the acquisition of 35-year-old center John Spoltore from Chicago. The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder played in 13 games for the Hounds this year, scoring two goals with six assists for eight points.
Spoltore is in his 12th season as a professional and has scored 258 goals with 692 assists for 950 points. He began his career with the Louisiana IceGators in 1995. His most productive year was 1999-2000 when he scored 119 points. He has scored over 100 points four times in his career.
In other PrairieThunder news, center Tyler Rennette has been moved to the 10-day injured list because of a medical condition and forward Jon Jankus has been placed on the 7-day injured list.
