Tyson Whiting Named "Voice of the Grizzlies"

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies CEO Kevin Bruder announced today that Tyson Whiting has been named Director of Communications and Broadcasting.

Whiting will also serve as the team's radio play-by-play broadcaster replacing Adrian Denny who joins the Arizona Coyotes and their AHL affiliate the Tucson Roadrunners as Director of Communications and Broadcasting. Denny, 36, exits as the longest tenured broadcaster in Utah pro hockey history; having called all 1,013 Grizzlies games on radio and television since 2005.

"Adrian was a stalwart of the Utah Grizzlies and will be greatly missed on both professional and personal levels," said Bruder. "We are pleased to promote Tyson. He continues to hone his craft and deserves the opportunity. Tyson is well familiar with the market, media, and our front office and hockey operations staff."

Tyson Whiting brings a long history with the Grizzlies and Utah sports radio into his new capacity with the organization. This past season he joined Denny on Utah Grizzlies Radio as the team's color commentator from his position live on the Grizzlies bench while also hosting pregame, intermission and postgame reports. He hosted Grizzlies TV segments online on game days, throughout the week and during television broadcasts on KMYU. Born in Pocatello, Idaho and raised in Kearns, Whiting, 30, joined Grizzlies Radio as a producer in 2014. He called play-by-play for the team's preseason games in 2017 as well.

"Being able to leave the Grizzlies with Tyson as I move on is an absolute honor," said Denny. "He is an elite talent and has an unmatched passion for the Utah Grizzlies. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the Elmore Sports Group and the Grizzlies for their loyalty and support. The lifelong friends that I've made here mean the world to me."

Following the 2017-2018 Grizzlies season, Whiting joined the Elmore Sports Group's Idaho Falls Chukars (Kansas City Royals Affiliate, Pioneer League) as Play-By-Play broadcaster for the start of the 2018 season. He broke into Utah sports radio in 2013 as a Producer with Cumulus Media's 1320 KFAN and in 2014 began hosting "The Tyson Show" until 2017 when he joined Grizzlies broadcasts on a fulltime basis.

"I grew up growing to Grizzlies games and following them on the radio," said Whiting. "I am very thankful and appreciative for the opportunity. It's been a thrill to be part of the organization for the last few years and there are definitely some big shoes to fill as Adrian Denny has done an outstanding job for over a decade. I hope to put all of the many things that I've learned from him to good use this season. A big thank you to Kevin Bruder for the opportunity and to Jill Roberts and Jared Youngman for their support during the process."

Grizzlies games will continue to be broadcast live on ESPN 700 and KSOP AM 1370/104.3 FM HD-2 and Whiting will also anchor Grizzlies In 60 Updates twice daily on ESPN 700 during the season.
