Tyler Palmer Named WHL Goalie of the Week

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Silvertips goaltender Tyler Palmer has been named Western Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Apr. 7.

Palmer, an '03-born Fernie, B.C. native, appeared in three games over the last week, posting three victories with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .975 save percentage. He turned aside 30 of 31 shots in Game 3 at Langley Events Centre, followed up by a 24-for-25 outing in Game 4 on Friday. His week was punctuated by a 25-save shutout of the Vancouver Giants in Game Five, clinching the series and sending the Silvertips to the Western Conference Semifinal for the first time since 2019.

He led all WHL Playoff starters over the course of the WHL Quarterfinal round with both a 1.63 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage over five appearances against the Giants.

Palmer posted a 30-2-9-3 record through the 2023-24 regular season, becoming one of two WHL goaltenders to hit the 30-win milestone.

The Everett Silvertips will square off with the Portland Winterhawks in the second round of the WHL Playoffs. Game 1 is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Games 3 and 4 will be held at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett on Monday, Apr. 15 and Friday, Apr. 19 respectively at 7 p.m.
