
Tyler MacKenzie Commits to Western Michigan University

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Silvertips forward Tyler MacKenzie has officially committed to play NCAA Division-I hockey at Western Michigan University in the 2025-26 season.
"I'm honored to commit to Western Michigan," said MacKenzie. "I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way become a better player and a better person."
MacKenzie, an '04-born Red Deer, AB native, spent his final season of major junior eligibility with the Silvertips, posting 33 goals and 45 assists for 78 points in 67 regular season contests with an added seven points in nine playoff games. Over the course of five WHL seasons, four of which were spent with the Medicine Hat Tigers, MacKenzie logged 72 goals and 121 assists for 193 points in 264 career games.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound center served as alternate captain of the Silvertips in 2024-25, and captain of the Tigers the season prior.
"It was a blessing to be here [in Everett]," MacKenzie noted. "It's something I can look back on for a long time."
Tyler MacKenzie joins the Western Michigan University Broncos, who won the NCAA National Championship in 2025 with a 6-2 win over Boston University in St. Louis. They finished the year with a 34-7-1 record.
